Padel Court Sealed in South Jakarta Must Obtain Permission Before Construction Resumes
JAKARTA — Padel court construction activity that has been sealed in the Jagakarsa area of South Jakarta cannot resume until the building owner obtains formal permission from the authorities.
Andi Lazuardy, head of the South Jakarta Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Land Department (Citata), stated that new construction may only proceed after the licensing process is completed and the approval is issued by the government.
“The licensing process is being handled as quickly as possible. Once the licensing process is complete, then construction work can resume,” Andi told Kompas.com on Monday (16 March 2026).
He emphasised that the rule applies to all buildings that have not yet obtained Building Approval (PBG).
“Even if it is being processed, as long as the permit has not been issued, construction is not allowed. That is the regulation,” he said.
Andi also reminded management not to remove the yellow lines or seals installed by the government without coordination with the authorities.
“Regarding sanctions, according to regulations it is not allowed since it constitutes damage to municipal property. But if it gets damaged or is accidentally damaged, we will re-seal it,” Andi said.
He added that the sealing was carried out after the government issued staged warnings to the building owner.
“We seal it because they did not comply. We have given them warnings multiple times. This is also part of education so that the community adheres to the regulations,” he said.
Previously, the South Jakarta City Government sealed a padel court building located on Moh. Kahfi I Street, Cipedak Village, because it lacked Building Approval (PBG) despite construction still being underway.
