Padel Court in Makasar, East Jakarta Sealed Over Incorrect Building Permit
JAKARTA — The East Jakarta City Government sealed a padel court located on Jalan Kolonel Sutomo, Kebon Pala Village, Makasar District, East Jakarta, on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
The sealing was carried out because the building did not have the appropriate licence for use as a padel court. East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin stated that the building permit was originally issued in 2018 for the construction of a residential dormitory.
This marks the eighth enforcement action undertaken by the Sub-agency for Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Land (Sudin Citata) in East Jakarta against problematic padel courts. Across East Jakarta, there are approximately 57 padel courts in total.
“Roughly 27 of these operate without proper licences, whilst the remaining 30 have been properly licensed,” the mayor said.
According to Kompas.com’s observation at the site, the sealing operation commenced at approximately 08.00 WIB. Officers from the East Jakarta Civil Police Unit (Satpol PP) and Sudin Citata first requested project workers to vacate the building area. Following the evacuation, Sudin Citata officers affixed seals to the structure.
The padel court building comprises three storeys. The second and third floors were intended to serve as the padel court area, though construction remained incomplete at the time of the enforcement action.
