Padel Court in Condet Remains Open Until Late Night, Causing Noise Disturbance
JAKARTA — A video showing a resident in the Condet neighbourhood, Batu Ampar district, Kramat Jati subdistrict, East Jakarta, complaining about noise from a padel court still operating at 23:39 WIB has circulated on social media.
In the video uploaded by Instagram account @chintyaade, the recorder documented activities at the padel court continuing late into the night.
The video’s narration indicated that residents had attempted mediation with the facility’s management, but such efforts were reportedly regularly disregarded by the establishment’s administration.
Mira, 58, a resident living near the padel court, similarly complained about the noise disturbance. She stated that sounds from game activities were quite loud in the evening and disrupted residents’ rest time.
“Yes, it’s noisy (activity at the padel court); it’s disturbing when it’s at night. It’s almost every night, especially Saturday and Sunday evenings when there are holidays. Saturdays and Sundays tend to be crowded,” Mira said when contacted on Tuesday (10 March 2026).
She hoped the facility operators would install sound dampening equipment and regulate operating hours so padel activities would not continue until late at night.
“What I’d like is for the sound to be more contained. Install sound dampening so the noise doesn’t disturb residents around the court,” she explained.
Meanwhile, Soleh, the padel court’s manager, claimed he had already attempted mediation with affected residents.
“In fact, I even went to her house. I visited Ms Chintya’s place, intending to stop by after the midday prayer around 12:00. At that time, she wasn’t at home,” Soleh said when contacted on Tuesday.
“So there’s no more noise issue. Hopefully we can achieve around 70 per cent reduction in sound, at least above 50 per cent. So the noise really won’t reach there,” he stated.
Regarding operating hours, the facility would also endeavour to comply with Jakarta Provincial Government regulations limiting padel court operations to 20:00 WIB.
“Just recently, representatives from the district and village administration came and said the schedule must be changed to a maximum of 21:00. The facility must close by 20:00, and operations must cease by 21:00,” he explained.
He also refuted the video’s narrative claiming his padel court was operating until late at night, asserting that the circulating video was an old recording that had only recently been re-uploaded.
