Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said there is a padel court operator in a residential area attempting to negotiate the operating hours. He noted one operator requested the courts remain open past 20:00 WIB, even though the limit already applies to all padel facilities in residential zones, including those with a PBG. ‘Even though they have a PBG, I have also heard that some want to negotiate beyond 20:00 WIB. We will not allow it. The maximum is 20:00 WIB,’ Pramono told reporters at City Hall, Jakarta, on Wednesday (4 March 2026).

Provincial Government of DKI has received many complaints about late-night padel noise, particularly the sound of ball bounces and players’ shouts. Therefore, Pramono asked operators to ensure the activity does not disturb the surrounding environment. If the noise persists, courts must be equipped with sound-dampening systems.

Besides the operating hours, Pramono also stressed that all padel courts in Jakarta must have a PBG. However, possession of a permit does not mean operators can ignore other rules. ‘So for padel in Jakarta, all must be licensed, have a PBG. For all padel that commit violations, without a PBG, we will take firm action,’ he said.

Provincial data show there are 397 padel courts in Jakarta. Pramono suspects some do not yet have a PBG and will be acted against if found to be violating.

He also confirmed that there will be no new padel court development in residential zones. Going forward, development will only be allowed in commercial zones and must obtain initial technical clearance from the Youth and Sports Department to avoid ad hoc construction.
