PT Hutama Karya (Persero) supports the development of strategic toll road infrastructure projects in West Sumatra. According to plans, the Padang-Sicincin Toll Road will be extended to Bukittinggi.

The Padang-Sicincin Toll Road project forms part of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) network, connecting the city of Padang to Sicincin. This toll road serves as the main route for the Padang-Pekanbaru toll network.

In its Instagram account, Hutama Karya Toll Road @hutamakaryatollroad, quoted on Tuesday (21/4/2026), it is stated that the Bukittinggi-Sicincin toll section has a total length of 40 km. This toll road will connect the strategic areas of Bukittinggi, Padang Panjang, and Sicincin.

The presence of this section is an important part in improving inter-regional connectivity and supporting the integration of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road network between West Sumatra province and Riau.

However, there are challenges in building the Bukittinggi-Sicincin toll road project due to the geographical conditions of the area it passes through. The Bukittinggi-Sicincin section is planned to be equipped with two tunnels (one 350 metres long and another 5.5 km). This has the potential to make it the toll road with the longest tunnels in the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road.

To date, Hutama Karya has constructed approximately 1,235 km of JTTS, covering sections that are fully operational or under construction. Operational sections include:

  • Bakauheni - Terbanggi Besar Toll Road (140 km)

  • Terbanggi Besar - Pematang Panggang - Kayu Agung Toll Road (189 km)

  • Palembang - Indralaya Toll Road (22 km)

  • Indralaya - Prabumulih Toll Road (64 km)

  • Betung - Jambi Section 3 Toll Road (Bayung Lencir - Tempino) (52.1 km)

  • Bengkulu - Taba Penanjung Toll Road (16.7 km)

  • Pekanbaru - Dumai Toll Road (132 km)

  • Medan - Binjai Toll Road (17 km)

  • Binjai - Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road (58 km)

  • Pekanbaru - XIII Koto Kampar Toll Road (55.4 km)

  • Padang - Sicincin Toll Road (35.4 km)

  • Indrapura - Kisaran Toll Road (48 km)

  • Kuala Tanjung - Tebing Tinggi - Sinaksak Toll Road (91 km)
