Padang Partners with Kirana Polytechnic to Produce Job-Ready Aviation Talent

The Padang City Government has established a partnership with Politeknik Kirana, preparing 40 scholarship slots for the city’s youth. Politeknik Kirana is a vocational higher education institution in the aviation sector. The 40 successful applicants will be guaranteed employment within the Lion Group. The polytechnic offers Diploma IV programmes in three study areas: Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology, Avionics Engineering Technology, and Aviation Industry Logistics. “We express our gratitude to Politeknik Kirana for providing scholarships with job opportunities,” said Padang Mayor Fadly Amran at the Education and Culture Office on Wednesday, 17 June 2026. In addition to the scholarships from Politeknik Kirana, all prospective students from Padang will receive living cost allowances funded by the Padang City Government through the ‘Padang Juara’ programme. “Through the Padang Juara programme, we will assist students with living costs, so each year we will send Diploma IV graduates who can be placed in Lion Group business units,” the Mayor stated. Mayor Fadly Amran expressed hope that Politeknik Kirana will continue its commitment to providing scholarship quotas for Padang’s youth annually. The city government is also committed to funding scholarships for at least 300 individuals. “This year, 80 to 100 children have already received scholarships. If we remain consistent, 300 children will receive scholarships each year. If our children have the ability and deserve scholarships, why not?” he said. He urged all young people in Padang to follow government information channels, particularly regarding scholarship opportunities. “Please follow the information from the Communication and Information Office. Do not miss out on scholarship information. When there is information, come on, all Padang champions must participate in these scholarship activities.” President Director of Politeknik Kirana, Capt. Taufik Hidayat, stated that although the polytechnic was only established in 2025, it has already opened scholarship opportunities for 40 students. “I hope the scholarships do not stop this year. As the polytechnic develops, we will increase the scholarship quota.” Politeknik Kirana provides adequate learning spaces, qualified teaching staff, and student facilities. “We have also prepared a mess for students, so they only need to walk to campus, enabling effective study.” Taufik expressed hope that after graduation, students can immediately enter the workforce and gain good work experience. “Our hope is that Padang does not get left behind and must continue to participate in this programme.” The event was also attended by Padang Regional Secretary Raju Minropa, Assistant I Tarmizi Ismail, Head of the Education and Culture Office Yopi Krislova, Secretary of the Communication and Information Office Syafriadi, Head of the Cooperation Section OS Damanik, Head of the Legal Section Indra Jaya, and Acting Head of the People’s Welfare Section Zul Asfi Lubis.
