Pariaman — The Padang Pariaman Regency Government in West Sumatra has distributed business assistance to 100 micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) operators in the region who were previously affected by hydrometeorological disasters in late November 2025.

“We want MSME operators to remain resilient, continue their efforts and not lose their spirit,” said Padang Pariaman Regent John Kenedy Azis during the distribution of assistance at the regent’s official residence in Pariaman City on Tuesday.

He stated that the assistance represents an effort to encourage economic recovery for the community, as the MSME sector forms the backbone of the regional economy and must continue to be strengthened, particularly in the post-disaster situation.

For this reason, the local government continues to provide assistance, support and mentoring so that the MSME sector recovers quickly and returns to productivity.

The types of assistance, which also resulted from cooperation with the Family Welfare Empowerment Mobilisation Team (TP-PKK) of Padang Pariaman, include gas cookers, gas cylinders and five-litre cooking oil. Additionally, flour weighing five kilograms and cash assistance of 250,000 rupiah to support their business operations.

Previously, Padang Pariaman Regency Government had also distributed assistance from Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives and partner organisations valued at 500 million rupiah for MSME operators in Padang Pariaman affected by hydrometeorological disasters.

“On 8 January 2026, we conducted direct validation and verification in the field to understand the actual condition of MSME operators and their needs so they could resume production,” he said.

From the results of this assessment, a total of 605 MSME operators affected by the hydrometeorological disasters that occurred in late November 2025 were recorded.

Of this number, 424 MSMEs operate in the trade and culinary sectors, 122 in the livestock sector, approximately 20 in the fisheries sector and several others in the creative economy and small industry sectors.
