Padang Panjang to Boost Revenue via Parking and Property Tax Sectors
The Padang Panjang municipal government has begun strategic steps to optimise Local Own-Source Revenue (PAD) by targeting the parking sector as one of its main pillars. This step was taken considering the potential of parking levies, which are deemed to have not been optimally managed to support the city’s development.
Padang Panjang Mayor Hendri Arnis stressed that apart from parking, his administration is also strengthening data collection and supervision in other potential sectors. This includes Land and Building Tax (PBB), the registration of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and waste retribution.
“The concept of increasing PAD must be continuously maximised, starting from the parking sector, PBB, MSME data collection, to waste retribution. There are still potentials that have not been maximally recorded, and we must fix this together,” said Hendri Arnis during a Corruption Prevention and PAD Optimisation Socialisation event at the Padang Panjang District Prosecutor’s Office hall on Thursday (4/6/2026).
In this effort, the Padang Panjang City Government is cooperating with the District Prosecutor’s Office to ensure that all regional revenue collection processes comply with legal corridors and are free from corrupt practices. Hendri considers collaboration with law enforcement officials to be crucial in creating clean and accountable governance.
The Acting Head of the Padang Panjang District Prosecutor’s Office, Bambang Irawan, expressed his office’s readiness to provide education and assistance. According to him, increasing PAD is directly related to the region’s financial capacity to finance public services.
“We hope that awareness of corruption prevention will increase. Routine monitoring and evaluation are needed so that the performance of regional apparatus in increasing regional revenue can be continuously improved through effective innovations and strategies,” Bambang asserted.
