Padang Panjang Mayor Receives National Scout Movement Darma Bakti Medal
Padang Panjang Mayor and Chairman of the Padang Panjang City Scout Movement Advisory Council (Mabicab), Hendri Arnis, received the Darma Bakti Medal from the National Scout Movement Kwartir Nasional. The award was presented during the Renewal of Promise Ceremony marking the 65th National Scout Day 2026 at the Cibubur Campground and Tourism Graha (Buperta) on Thursday, 13 August 2026. The medal was given in recognition of his support for the development and growth of the Scout Movement.
Hendri said the award was an appreciation for himself as well as the entire Padang Panjang City Scout Movement family, which remains committed to nurturing the younger generation. As Chairman of the Padang Panjang City Scout Movement Mabicab, he believes the Scout Movement plays an important role in shaping young people who have character, discipline, independence, social awareness and a spirit of service.
“This award is not solely for me personally. It is an award for all coaches, trainers, administrators and fellow Scouts in Padang Panjang who continue to work and serve. We must make this award a motivation to continue growing the Scout Movement,” said Hendri.
According to him, the challenges facing today’s younger generation are increasingly diverse, especially amid technological developments and the rapid flow of information. Therefore, character building through the Scout Movement needs to be continuously strengthened so that young people not only have academic abilities but also discipline, responsibility, leadership and care for the surrounding environment.
Hendri hopes the award will further encourage the Padang Panjang Kwarcab leadership to improve coaching in every front group, work unit and various other Scouting activities.
“Our hope is that Scouts in Padang Panjang become more active, stronger and able to produce a young generation ready to face future challenges. The City Government will continue to provide support for the positive activities carried out by the Scout Movement,” he added.
Chairman of the National Scout Movement Kwartir Nasional, Komjen Pol (Ret.) Budi Waseso, stressed the importance of maintaining the sustainability of the Scout Movement and passing on the values of service inherited from predecessors. The Scout Movement is considered to still have a strategic role in shaping the character of the younger generation and preparing them to become an important part of national development.
The Renewal of Promise Ceremony was one of a series of events for the 65th Scout Day commemoration held by the Kwartir Nasional at Buperta Cibubur. The moment also served as a space to reaffirm the commitment of all Scout Movement members to the values of Tri Satya and Dasa Darma Pramuka.
