Padang Panjang Inflation Drops to 2.48 Percent in April 2026, IPH Stable

Padang Panjang has achieved positive economic performance with a significant drop in year-on-year inflation in April 2026. The inflation rate was recorded at 2.48 percent, a sharp decline from 4.32 percent in March 2026. This achievement was highlighted during the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting, combined with the launch of anti-corruption education teaching materials by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), on Monday (11/5). The meeting was attended virtually by Alvisena, Special Staff for Economics, Finance, and Development, from the VIP Room of Padang Panjang City Hall. The Secretary General of Kemendagri, Tomsi Tohir Balaw, revealed that the post-Eid inflation trend at the national level from 2022 to 2026 has consistently shown a downward curve. In April 2026, national inflation was recorded at 0.13 percent, lower than the previous month. Conditions in Padang Panjang are in line with this trend. In the first week of May 2026, the Price Development Index (IPH) in the city stood at 0.30 percent, which falls into the low fluctuation category. Although stable, the government remains alert to price increases in several major commodities. In addition to focusing on food price stability, the meeting also emphasised strengthening the integrity of state apparatus. The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Akhmad Wiyagus, stressed that anti-corruption education is a vital strategy in building honest character from an early age. “Instilling values of honesty from early childhood to secondary education levels is an important step in corruption prevention efforts,” Akhmad emphasised. In agreement, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto added that the vision of a corruption-free Indonesia must be initiated from the school environment. According to him, behavioural change must start from the classroom, not merely through legal actions in examination rooms or courtrooms. The launch of this guide is a response to the results of the 2024 Education Integrity Assessment Survey (SPI), which showed a score of 69.50 out of 100. Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Akhmad Wiyagus inaugurated the DESLab BSKDN. This digital election simulation facility is projected to become a centre for research and policy recommendations on e-voting. The Director General of Village Development at Kemendagri, La Ode Ahmad P Bolombo, emphasised that determining village boundaries is urgent to be completed soon to create legal certainty and reduce inter-village conflicts. The Director General of Village Development Guidance at Kemendagri is accelerating the affirmation of village boundaries through the Integrated Land Administration and Spatial Planning Programme (ILASPP). He assessed that Kemendagri, as the mentoring institution for local governments, should immediately coordinate with relevant local governments that have level crossings.
