Padang Panjang City Commemorates Pancasila Day, Reinforces National Unity
The Padang Panjang City Government commemorated Pancasila Day 2026 with a ceremony at the City Hall courtyard on Monday (1 June). The event was used to strengthen commitment to national values, unity, and mutual cooperation amid Indonesia’s diverse society.
The ceremony was led by Deputy Mayor Allex Saputra and attended by regional security and defence officials, Acting Regional Secretary Wita Desi Susanti, GOW Chair Sri Hidayani Allex, DWP Chair Trinanda, assistants, special staff, heads of government agencies, civil servants, and other participants.
During the event, Deputy Mayor Allex read a speech from the Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) of the Republic of Indonesia, themed “Pancasila as the Unifier of the Nation, Foundation of World Peace.”
He stated that the theme underscores Pancasila not only as the state foundation but also as a unifying force capable of keeping Indonesia resilient amid global challenges.
“Pancasila is the guiding star that has proven its resilience. In a world marked by uncertainty and fragmentation threats, Indonesia stands firm as a tangible example of how diversity—comprising thousands of islands and hundreds of ethnic groups—can be united under a national bond,” he said.
The speech also emphasised that achieving a progressive Indonesia requires more than economic growth and technological advancement; national progress must go hand in hand with strengthening morality, character, and humanitarian values inherent in Pancasila.
Local governments were reminded to ensure all policies are based on social justice principles, protect vulnerable groups, and guarantee equal opportunities for all citizens in development.
Additionally, all national elements were urged to maintain tolerance, strengthen brotherhood, and combat any form of intolerance or radicalism that could threaten national unity.
“Ensure public policies are grounded in social justice, meet societal fairness, safeguard citizens’ rights, and leave no one feeling neglected,” he continued while reading the BPIP speech. (E-2)
