Padang explores educational cooperation opportunities with Malaysia
Padang City (ANTARA) - The Padang City Government in West Sumatra is exploring opportunities for cooperation with two universities in Malaysia in the field of education. “There are two educational cooperation opportunities that can be followed up with Malaysia,” said Deputy Mayor of Padang Maigus Nasir in Padang on Monday. This was stated by Deputy Mayor of Padang Maigus Nasir after a working visit to the neighbouring country. The former West Sumatra DPRD member said that the educational cooperation opportunities are with Universiti Kuala Lumpur through a scholarship scheme for children who are Quran memorisers. This programme provides opportunities for hafiz or Quran memorisers to pursue various study programmes, from medicine and engineering to economics and sciences, with the aim of producing outstanding and competitive Muslim intellectual generations. The second opportunity is cooperation with Universiti Al-Bukhary, which prepares special educational scholarships for children from underprivileged families. This programme will be synergised with Baznas and supported by data validation through the digital social assistance programme. The implementation and synchronisation of digital social assistance in that programme also aligns with Padang City’s selection as the only area in the province as a pilot project for digital social assistance. Currently, the Padang City Government is targeting all cross-organisational administrative processes involving the Education Office, Social Office, and Population and Civil Registration Office to follow up on these cooperation opportunities.
