Padang councillors to be tried soon

PADANG, West Sumatra: Ten of a total 45 Padang councillors charged with graft will go on trial soon, after officials at Padang Prosecutor's Office handed over on Tuesday dossiers on the 10 to Padang District Court.

The 45 councillors were charged with misusing Rp 10.4 billion in Padang municipality budget funds between 2001 and 2002.

Padang Prosecutor's Office chief Muharnis said the office would complete the dossiers on other suspects in the case soon. -- JP
