The Padang City Government, through the Department of Education and Culture (Disdikbud), has officially established the implementation schedule for the Student Admission System (SPMB) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. For parents and prospective students at the primary (SD) and junior high school (SMP) levels, registration will open simultaneously starting 22 June 2026.

The Head of Padang City Disdikbud, Yopi Krislova, emphasised that providing a definite schedule aims to ensure the community has sufficient time to prepare all necessary documents. This announcement was made during an official press conference attended by Disdikbud leadership on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

It is important to note that all stages of registration are free of charge. Applicants are advised to refer only to official information from Padang City Disdikbud channels. The government provides several entry tracks that can be selected based on the conditions and qualifications of the prospective students.

Unlike the junior high school level, registration for primary school candidates will be conducted offline. Parents are required to visit a public primary school in Padang City to complete the registration forms. These forms can be downloaded in advance via the official Padang City SPMB website to expedite the administrative process at the target school. Under the domicile track, prospective students may choose a maximum of two schools, while for the affirmation and mutation tracks, school selection is not restricted by region. The primary selection for primary school remains based on age criteria in accordance with applicable regulations.

For the junior high school level, the entire registration process will be conducted online to maintain transparency and efficiency. Yopi Krislova urged all parents to be meticulous in following every stage and to avoid last-minute registrations to prevent technical issues within the system.
