Padang builds palm oil plant

JAKARTA (JP): PT Inti Usaha Padang, a join venture between PT Tidar Kerinci Agung, PT Famili Raya and a Singaporean plantation company, is building a palm oil plant with US$50 million in Padang, West Sumatra.

A company director, Jojo H.C. Policar, was quoted by Antara as saying that the factory was due to start operating at the beginning of 1998 with a daily production of between 150 tons of palm oil and 300 tons.

Fifty people were expected to work during the first year of operation. It is now being built on three hectares in the Padang Industrial Park, Jojo said. (13)
