Pacitan, East Java (ANTARA) - The Pacitan District Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in East Java has provided leeway to prospective Hajj pilgrims who wish to mark their luggage to facilitate identification and recognition of their personal belongings.

“There is no specific directive, but it is an initiative by the pilgrims to make it easier to recognise luggage in the Holy Land,” said Acting Head of the Pacitan Hajj and Umrah Office, Marjuni, in Pacitan on Sunday.

According to him, such markers are permitted as long as they do not cover the official luggage identification tags affixed by officials.

The presence of markers will greatly assist pilgrims during luggage retrieval at hotels, given that distribution is carried out on a mass scale.

“If marked from Indonesia, it will be much easier when retrieving luggage at respective hotels,” he said.

All measures are aimed at simplifying recognition during the search for luggage upon arrival in the Holy Land.

Marjuni emphasised that the maximum weight limit for luggage is 32 kilograms. All luggage is weighed before being sent to the embarkation point to ensure compliance with regulations.

“If it exceeds 32 kilograms, it must be reduced. We educate our pilgrims to adjust the contents of their luggage to not exceed the limit,” he said.

He assured that, to date, all pilgrims’ luggage remains within the permitted limits.
