P3M condemns Bali blast
P3M condemns Bali blast
From Koran Tempo
Barbaric! Perhaps this is the most common word uttered to
describe the act of terrorism when we heard Bali was bombed. We
feel our human feelings were deeply wounded because hundreds of
lives have perished tragically by the hands of barbaric and cruel
people.
What makes it more tragic is that the victims are not only
Indonesian citizens but also other citizens of the world who were
enjoying their vacation on the island of Gods. Whatever reasons
they may have, their acts can be classified as very violent and
are unjustifiable.
The Bali bomb case is not the first of its kind and may not be
the last. We seem to have run out of suitable words to describe
their atrocities and curse the perpetrators despite the fact we
have yet to know exactly who they are. The government seems
impotent to catch the dirty hands smeared with blood that always
spread anxiety and horror everywhere.
We, the Association for Developing the Society and Islamic
Boarding Schools (P3M), would like to express our concern over
the blast:
* Condemn the bomb blast. This violence is considered an act of
cowardice driven by ambition.
* The government and other related institutions, especially the
police have to work more seriously to uncover the incident. Do
not let these wicked people roam the country and spill human
blood everywhere and do not let the people take the law into
their own hands because they think the government is incompetent
to deal with terrorism.
* We express our heart-felt sympathy to the victims and the
bereaved. Please trust that justice will triumph.
* We would like to appeal to all Indonesian citizens to be more
cautious and alert and to avoid giving misleading opinions.
Suspicion of certain groups must not make us lose our common
sense and allow us to adopt "the end justifies the means" policy.
