The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has emphasised that a funding proposal sourced from Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) surpluses was not agreed upon during the final deliberations on the revision of the P2SK Law. Consequently, levies on the financial services industry remain in effect.

Deputy Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Hernawan Bekti Sasongko, disclosed this during a press conference on the results of the May 2026 Monthly Board of Commissioners Meeting in Jakarta on Friday, 5 June 2026.

“Regarding the OJK’s funding sources with its new mandate, it is true that the current OJK funding scheme continues as before, independently from levies on the financial services sector and state budget support as stipulated in the current P2SK Law,” he said.

Hernawan asserted that the OJK will execute the mandate granted through the revision of the Law on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (UU P2SK) effectively, professionally, and accountably.

“Regarding infrastructure support, including the budget, it is indeed a logical consequence of the birth of this new mandate. Therefore, we also believe that this will be a shared concern for realising quality regulatory and supervisory implementation to support the public interest and the ecosystem within the financial industry,” he stated.

Regarding the House of Representatives’ authority to evaluate OJK’s performance, Hernawan explained that this mechanism is actually already regulated under the current provisions. The OJK is required to submit a written institutional performance report to the President and the DPR, which is then evaluated by the DPR as material for the annual assessment of the performance of all board members and the OJK institutionally.

“Therefore, performance evaluation of OJK leaders is already inherent, meaning it has become part of the OJK’s accountability framework that has been in effect all this time. So we will continue to carry out the reporting process,” he said.

Regarding the addition of tasks for the OJK, including among others the regulation and supervision of mineral and strategic commodity exchanges, OJK Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, stated that her agency is fully committed to carrying out the mandate and trust given by the government and the DPR through the amendment of the P2SK Law. She described this as part of efforts to strengthen and maintain the stability of Indonesia’s financial sector.
