Jakarta - Deputy Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Christina Aryani and Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir have discussed strengthening inter-ministerial synergy to support the SMK Go Global Programme. “This meeting is useful for coordinating the readiness of the SMK Go Global Programme implementation, which is one of President Prabowo Subianto’s directive programmes,” Christina said in a P2MI Ministry press release in Jakarta on Friday. She assessed that the two ministries have a strategic working relationship in the protection and placement of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI). According to her, the presence of Indonesian representatives abroad is an important factor in supporting a safe and legal placement process. “We cannot work alone. We need the Foreign Ministry as a main partner through the support of all Indonesian representatives abroad, especially in the job order verification process and the protection of Indonesian migrant workers,” Christina said. At the meeting, she also discussed the evaluation of system and data integration between ministries. This issue, she said, is crucial as the SMK Go Global Programme is implemented, which not only focuses on training but also ensures graduates are absorbed into the international job market. “The SMK Go Global Programme has a different orientation, and we are not only training prospective migrant workers but also ensuring they can be placed. Therefore, the measure of success is actual placement,” she said. She also explained that the P2MI Ministry currently has the Computerised System for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (SISKOP2MI), which covers the entire placement process and is connected to several Indonesian representatives via the Peduli WNI System. “The role of Indonesian representatives is very important because they verify the job orders that enter the system. Therefore, we want to ensure the entire process runs well and there are no obstacles when the programme begins to be implemented massively,” Christina concluded.
