A terrifying incident occurred in Cilincing, North Jakarta, on Wednesday morning when an oxygen cylinder was violently ejected during a filling process and landed on a resident’s house approximately 100 metres away. The cylinder struck the property at Jalan Baru Gang 2 Dalam No 25, Cilincing, causing severe damage.

Cilincing Police Chief AKP Bobi Dubasri stated that the Criminal Investigation Unit is handling the case to determine the exact cause of the incident and to ensure accountability for the losses suffered by the resident. The event took place around 09:20 WIB at PT Multi Senada Dan Dewa, a gas filling company located on Jalan Cilincing Raya No 29.

According to witness statements, the six-cubic-metre oxygen cylinder was being refilled when it suddenly shot into the air accompanied by a loud explosion, damaging the asbestos roof of the filling station. The cylinder then fell and hit a private residence and a small grocery shop owned by Ahmad Suyono. The property owner and his wife, Maryam, were in the front section of the shop at the time and were shocked when the cylinder crashed through the roof, destroying parts of the building and shop displays.

No fatalities or injuries were reported, but the material losses are considered substantial, and the incident caused psychological trauma for the occupants. Material loss is still being assessed. Upon receiving the report, officers led by Criminal Investigation Unit Head Ipda Adi Putra Tanjung and Duty Officer Aiptu Bambang Prayitno immediately secured and processed the crime scene. Police actions included cordoning off the area, installing a police line, interviewing witnesses, documenting the damage, and preparing reports for further investigation. Cilincing Police urged all companies involved in the filling and storage of high-pressure gases to strictly enforce occupational safety standards to prevent similar incidents that endanger workers and surrounding communities.
