Owner of Burnt Confectionery Factory Ready to Compensate 29 Residents' Houses in Tambora
JAKARTA – The owner of a confectionery factory that caught fire and spread to residents’ homes on Jalan Tanah Sereal 13, Tambora, West Jakarta, is prepared to compensate the victims for their losses.
Tanah Sereal Ward Head, Tubagus Masarul Iman, conveyed that the factory owner made this statement when met on Tuesday (24/3/2026) at the Tanah Sereal Ward Office.
Tubagus said that the factory owner had actually held a direct meeting with several community representatives.
Tubagus confirmed that the total number of residents’ houses impacted by the fire and eligible for compensation amounts to 29 houses.
Eighteen houses are located in RT 10 RW 11, while the other 11 houses are in RT 11 RW 11.
The factory owner promised that the compensation payments to the residents would be made in early April 2026.
“From the owner, it will be paid in stages. So for RT 11 on 5 April, and for RT 10 on 10 April,” Tubagus stated.
However, he admitted he could not disclose the exact amounts, as that is the direct prerogative of the factory owner.
Tubagus also committed to continuing to monitor the instructions from the West Jakarta Mayor to ensure that accountability towards the fire victims is fulfilled fairly.
Previously reported, a four-storey confectionery factory on Jalan Tanah Sereal 13, RT 11 / RW 09, Tanah Sereal Ward, Tambora Subdistrict, West Jakarta, caught fire on Friday (13/3/2026).
Residents attempted independent firefighting efforts, but they failed because the flames had already grown large and the building was filled with highly flammable materials.
The factory building collapsed and fell onto several residents’ houses, spreading the fire to a total of 29 surrounding homes.
Thirty-one fire trucks with 155 personnel were deployed to extinguish the blaze. The firefighting operation took about six hours and was completed at 08.42 WIB.
