OVO is encouraging the public to increase their vigilance as users of digital transactions in daily activities against fraud attempts within the digital payment ecosystem.

Head of Strategy, Integrated Marketing Communication, Transport, OVO & Bank Asep Haekal said the security of digital transactions can begin with simple habits such as maintaining the confidentiality of PINs and OTPs, being wary of suspicious links or transaction requests, and ensuring that all information and assistance is obtained through official channels.

“The principle is simple: OVO never asks for a PIN, OTP, or fund transfer from users. If any party requests these on behalf of OVO, it is certainly a fraud. Therefore, in addition to continuously strengthening its security systems, OVO also consistently promotes education so that users are increasingly able to recognise and avoid various digital fraud schemes,” said Asep in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.

As its usage becomes increasingly widespread, fraud schemes also continue to evolve and often exploit user carelessness through various communication channels.

Data from the Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre (IASC), established by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), recorded more than 636,000 fraud reports from November 2024 to the end of July 2026, with more than 600,000 accounts linked to fraud having been blocked.

On the other hand, simple user habits, such as maintaining the confidentiality of account information and ensuring that all communication comes from official channels, also play an important role.

Asep said there are five things that can be confirmed OVO never asks of its users. Firstly, OVO never asks users to state, send, or share their PIN as part of any service process or problem resolution.

Secondly, OVO urges users not to share their OTP code with anyone, including parties claiming to be OVO representatives or customer service. Maintaining the confidentiality of the OTP is important to prevent unauthorised access or any type of transaction on the user’s account.

Thirdly, OVO also never requests verification, activation, or prize disbursement processes that require users to send money first. In addition, users are advised to only download the OVO application through official platforms and to avoid suspicious links sent via WhatsApp, SMS, social media, or other communication channels.

Lastly, OVO also urges users to ensure that information and assistance regarding accounts or transactions is obtained through OVO’s official channels.

Ultimately, a secure digital ecosystem is built together through technology that is continuously strengthened by service providers as well as users who are increasingly vigilant and prudent in every digital activity.

Collaboration between increasingly robust technology and increasingly discerning users forms an important foundation in creating a safe and trustworthy digital transaction experience.
