Overwhelming Crowds: 62,000 Visitors Flock to Ancol on Final Day of Free Entry

The Ancol tourist area in North Jakarta was packed with visitors today on the final day of the free ticket programme held in celebration of Jakarta’s anniversary. Visitor numbers reached 62,000 people. “The update as of 15.00 WIB is more than 62,000 people,” said PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Tbk Corporate Communication Manager Daniel Windriatmoko when contacted on Sunday (28/6/2026). Daniel confirmed the increase in visitors was a direct result of the free tickets. He stated that visitors using free tickets dominated today’s attendance. “That is absolutely correct, the crowd of visitors packing the Ancol area was indeed dominated by the free entry programme for Jakarta’s 499th anniversary,” he said. Daniel noted the increase in visitors today was more than 50 per cent, a stark contrast to a typical weekend which usually sees only around 40,000 visitors. “A normal weekend is usually around 40,000. So the increase could be 50 to 60 per cent,” he said. Monitoring at the location showed heavy congestion of four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles at the Ancol East Entrance Gate, with queues snaking back approximately 200 metres. One visitor, Erwin (34), said he had travelled from Bekasi with his family to take advantage of the free ticket programme initiated by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Congestion also occurred at the pedestrian entrance gates, with the majority of visitors appearing to bring their families. The programme was valid for this weekend, 27-28 June 2026. Based on an official announcement from PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Tbk, the free entry promotion to Ancol applied to all Indonesian citizens, not just Jakarta residents, and was valid on 27-28 June 2026 from 05.00 to 23.00 WIB.
