Overview of the Red White Fishermen's Village to Be Visited by Prabowo in Gorontalo
GORONTALO, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to inspect the Red White Fishermen’s Village in South Leato, Gorontalo, on Saturday (9/5/2026) afternoon.
Kompas.com observations at the site show that the Red White Fishermen’s Village is located by the seaside.
At the front, there is a gate combining white, blue, and red colours with the inscription “Welcome to KNMP Red White Fishermen’s Village”.
Inside, several facilities are visible in the Red White Fishermen’s Village to support fishing business activities from upstream to downstream.
There are also operational fisheries facilities in the form of a dock/boat mooring, ship docking, and a workshop.
Additionally, supporting facilities for the area include culinary kiosks, supply kiosks, a meeting hall, management office, prayer room, public toilets, biotech wastewater treatment plant, and a guard post.
Based on information received, the South Leato Red White Fishermen’s Village covers 835 households, with 612 people actively working as fishermen, supported by 214 fishing vessels.
The total budget for the development of the South Leato Red White Fishermen’s Village amounts to Rp 15,803,226,030, allocated for the integrated development of the area and fisheries facilities.
The breakdown includes Rp 10,534,327,000 for the construction of the Red White Fishermen’s Village area, assistance for 10 units of 15 PK outboard boat engines worth Rp 294,199,030, a frozen warehouse/cold chain worth Rp 2,508,600,000, a refrigerated vehicle worth Rp 694,000,000, a portable ice factory worth Rp 1,650,000,000, and assistance for 50 units of cool boxes worth Rp 122,100,000.
With the existence of the fishermen’s village, catches can be stored first so that prices do not drop.
“Of course, because they lack sufficient storage facilities, the production must be sold on the same day. Especially if, for example, during the peak fishing season, production is abundant, exceeding the market’s absorption capacity, so prices usually drop,” said Yanwar when met at the South Leato Red White Fishermen’s Village.
