PT Pertamina (Persero) hosted representatives of Princeton University at its Orchestration Center at the Pertamina Digital Hub, Grha Pertamina, Jakarta, on Monday, 19 October 2026.

The visit was intended to provide insight into digital transformation, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies, and to help the delegation understand the company’s role in supporting the development of the digital economy and the adoption of technology in Indonesia’s energy sector.

During the visit, the Princeton University delegation learned about the Pertamina Digital Hub, including the Orchestration Center’s role in monitoring, coordination and information integration to support decision-making on the company’s business activities.

Princeton University is a prestigious private research university and a member of the Ivy League, based in Princeton, New Jersey, in the United States.

Ignatius Sigit Pratopo, Pertamina Digital Hub’s senior vice-president, said the hub played an important role in the company’s operational business activities, including as an enabler of its dual-growth strategy. It was also part of Pertamina’s commitment to accelerating its digital transformation.

Sigit said digital transformation had two main aspects. The first was value creation through the use of digital technology and AI. The second was capability development, covering technology, human resources and business processes.

“Both are part of our framework for creating value and building the capabilities Pertamina needs to achieve its strategic vision of dual growth,” he said.

Sigit added that the Pertamina Digital Hub had several facilities with complementary functions. The Orchestration Center is a collaborative space where business issues are discussed with experts from relevant units.

The second facility, the Digital Factory, is where the hub’s team works with business units to develop digital and AI solutions tailored to the company’s operational needs.

The third is the Remote Surveillance Center, which enables the company to monitor various visual information, including CCTV footage from petrol stations and other facilities.

“These three facilities support the Pertamina Digital Hub’s approach of connecting business needs, technology-solution development and the use of data to help the company make decisions more effectively,” Sigit said in a press release.

Anne Blatchford, a representative of Princeton University, praised Pertamina’s digital transformation and use of AI, particularly in the energy sector. She said these efforts aligned with Indonesia’s development and economic goals.

“We are honoured to visit the Pertamina Digital Hub. Thank you for giving us this opportunity. We very much look forward to learning from Pertamina,” Anne said.

Separately, Pertamina vice-president of corporate communications Muhammad Baron said the Princeton University representatives’ visit showed that Pertamina had become a point of reference for the use of technology.

“Indonesia’s geography as the world’s largest archipelagic country makes its fuel distribution network one of the most complex in the world. That is why the use of technology is vital to ensuring that our responsibility to distribute fuel is carried out optimally,” Baron said.
