Overpass project financed by Japan

TANGERANG: The Tangerang Regency will begin the construction of two overpasses in the Ciputat and Balaraja districts worth Rp 90 billion (US$10.5 million) and Rp 50 billion respectively.

The Japan-Indonesia Corporation Agent (JICA) will be the consultant for both projects, which will be financed with Japanese loans through the Ministry of Resettlement and Regional Infrastructure.

"It's been two years since Banten Governor Djoko Munandar promised to finance the projects. But we can't wait any longer because the overpasses are badly needed to handle chronic traffic congestion in both areas," Tangerang Regent Ismet Iskandar said on Saturday.

The regency administration has allocated Rp 29 billion from this year's budget for the projects. -- JP
