Overnight Rain Triggers Flooding at 18 Points in Bekasi City

Overnight rain, from Saturday night into Sunday morning, delivered moderate to heavy downpours that caused flooding in Bekasi City, West Java. The Bekasi City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded at least 18 flood points and one house collapsed across several areas, although most inundations have since receded. The flood points were spread across 12 kelurahan in seven kecamatan: Mustikajaya, Pondokgede, Pondokmelati, Jatiasih, Rawalumbu, Bekasi Timur and Bekasi Barat.

In Mustikajaya, three inundation points were reported: in Perumahan Mutiara Gading Timur, Kelurahan Mustika Jaya, with water around 30 cm; in Perumahan Pondok Timur Indah, Kelurahan Mustika Jaya, about 10 cm; and in Perumahan Mayang Pratama Blok A RT 02 and RT 04 RW 02, Kelurahan Mustikasari, about 60 cm.

In Pondokgede, two flood points: Jalan Kenanga VI RT 14 RW 15 Komplek Duta Indah, Kelurahan Jatimakmur; and Perumahan Jatibening Permai, Kelurahan Jatibening, with depths reaching around 1 metre, now receded.

One house collapsed in Kompleks DDN A36, Kelurahan Jatiwaringin, though floodwater there has subsided.

In Pondokmelati, inundation occurred at Perumahan Chandra Baru RW 017, 021, 022, Kelurahan Jatirahayu, with depths around 60–80 cm and now receded.

In Jatiasih, two flood points: Perumahan Bumi Nasio Indah, Kelurahan Jatimekar, about 70 cm; and the IKIP Dosen Complex, Kelurahan Jatikramat, with water around 180 cm at the deepest point. Two pumping units operated, and BPBD teams remained on standby.

In Rawalumbu, five flood points, most of which have receded. Examples include Perumahan Taman Narogong Indah, Kelurahan Pengasinan, 50–70 cm; Perumahan Bumi Bekasi Baru around 80 cm; Rawalumbu Jembatan 0, Kelurahan Pengasinan, 70 cm; Jalan Selecta 3, Kelurahan Pengasinan, 30–40 cm; and Perumahan Pondok Hijau Permai, Jalan Kenari Barat RT 002 RW 026, Kelurahan Pengasinan, 30–60 cm.

In Bekasi Timur, three flood points were recorded: Perumahan Duren Jaya RW 09 (10–20 cm); Pasar Rama Wisma Jaya, Kelurahan Duren Jaya (10–15 cm); and Irigasi Danita, Kelurahan Bekasi Jaya (10–30 cm). All three were reported as receded.

In Bekasi Barat, two flood points: Jalan Raya Bintara in front of a petrol station, Kelurahan Bintara, due to overflow from Kali Cakung (about 70 cm); and Perumahan Duta Kranji, Kelurahan Bintara (10–30 cm).

BPBD Kota Bekasi said it has implemented several measures, including assessments of affected areas, monitoring water levels, and preparing boats for evacuation if needed. Staff were also stationed in flood-prone areas to evacuate residents and distribute logistics to affected communities.

The authorities noted that the three locations previously mentioned have since receded.
