A truck tyre came loose on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) toll road at kilometre marker 1+400A. The detached tyre bounced across lanes before striking another vehicle.

“The left rear tyre of a Colt Diesel vehicle came off, while a Raize vehicle sustained damage to its front left side and flank,” said Jakarta Metropolitan Police Highway Patrol Unit Chief Senior Commissioner Rieki Indra Brata on Thursday (19/2/2026).

The incident occurred on Tuesday (17/2) at approximately 1:00 PM Western Indonesian Time. It began when the vehicle was travelling from the Cawang direction in lane one.

“The truck experienced a blowout and the tyre came off at the rear left side. The detached tyre ended up in lane two, where it was struck by a Raize vehicle travelling in that lane,” he explained.

Based on field officers’ analysis, the tyre is believed to have come loose because the truck was carrying excessive cargo, causing it to detach and bounce out of its lane.

“Officers’ analysis indicates that the Colt Diesel vehicle exceeded its load capacity, meaning the tyre was unable to bear the weight of the cargo,” he disclosed.

Rieki stated there were no fatalities or injuries in the incident. The matter was subsequently resolved amicably between the parties involved.

“The issue was settled amicably,” he concluded.
