Overloaded trailer truck overturns on Tomang Elevated Toll Road

A trailer truck with registration number B 9688 XA was involved in a single-vehicle accident and overturned at kilometre 13.400 of the Tomang Elevated Toll Road heading west in West Jakarta on Wednesday morning. The head of the Highway Patrol Unit of the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate, AKBP Reiki Indra Brata Manggala, stated that the accident occurred at 4.00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time and is strongly suspected to have been triggered by the vehicle’s overloaded cargo. “The trailer vehicle was travelling from the Tomang gate heading west. Upon reaching KM 13.400 A, on an ascending road, the driver lost control while manoeuvring to the left. As a result, the vehicle overturned with its wheels facing north,” Reiki said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. He said that based on analysis by officers at the scene, the driver, identified by the initial B, a private individual and resident of Kampung Pasir Jayanti, Tangerang, was unable to control the vehicle due to the excessively heavy load. “It was discovered that the driver did not possess a Driving Licence,” Reiki stated. As a result of the accident, the driver suffered minor injuries to his left leg. The accident also caused material losses in the form of damage to toll road facilities owned by Jasa Marga. “The material losses include damage to railing posts, railing fences, and optical cables belonging to the toll road operator. Meanwhile, the truck itself sustained severe damage to its front and left side,” Reiki said. Traffic flow around the scene was managed to prevent lengthy congestion during the investigation and evacuation process. “The trailer truck has been successfully evacuated by the Komo Rescue towing team assisted by the Marga Mandiri unit to a safe location. This traffic accident case has subsequently been handed over to the West Jakarta Regional Unit for further investigation,” Reiki revealed.
