Overhaul education curriculum: VP

BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: Vice President Hamzah Haz says the
national education curriculum must be overhauled in order to meet
the country's development needs.

Hamzah said the existing education curriculum did not meet the
country's needs as it did not prepare students to explore and
exploit available natural resources.

"The country's education curriculum must be overhauled
thoroughly," the vice president said when opening the science
gathering of Indonesian Mathematics and Science Students in
Lampung on Wednesday.

He said the national education curriculum should be able to
give economic value and added value to natural resources "so that
Indonesia does not have to depend too much on foreign experts in
exploiting its natural resources."

"We have abundant natural resources but are unable to exploit
