JAKARTA - A total of 55,572 vehicles were recorded passing through the functional toll road segment, the final stretch of the Trans-Java toll highway, Probolinggo–Situbondo–Banyuwangi from Gending to Situbondo Barat, over five days of operation from Saturday (14/3/2026) to Wednesday (18/3/2026). The operation of this 50-kilometre functional route was carried out by PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk through its subsidiary PT Jasamarga Probolinggo Banyuwangi or JPB to support smooth traffic flow during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 Lebaran holiday. During that period, vehicles passed through three toll gates: GT Kraksaan, GT Paiton, and GT Situbondo Barat. Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A Purwantono explained that the functional route would be open from 14 to 29 March 2026, or for 16 days. The route operates in both directions with hours from 06:00 WIB to 16:00 WIB for all vehicle classes. The highest traffic was recorded on the fifth day, or H-3 Lebaran 2026, on Wednesday (18/3/2026), with 12,670 vehicles. According to Rivan, the presence of this functional route helps optimise traffic distribution during the 2026 Lebaran holiday period. It also provides significant benefits in supporting community mobility in the region. The opening of the Gending–Situbondo Barat segment is expected to serve as a more efficient alternative route. Thus, it can reduce the traffic burden on arterial roads and the Pantura route through even distribution of vehicle flow. In its operation, Jasa Marga continues to coordinate with the police and local government to ensure the functional route can be used safely and comfortably. Several supporting facilities are also on standby, such as alert posts, toilet services, and motorist fuel. In addition, various facilities and infrastructure for handling emergencies are prepared to provide a sense of security for road users while passing through the route. Jasa Marga urges road users to follow the instructions of on-site officers, comply with applicable signs including speed limits, and ensure vehicles are in prime condition with sufficient fuel before entering the functional route.
