Over a Month On, Clean Water Still Not Flowing in RW 03 Jembatan Besi
Jakarta – The clean water crisis affecting residents of RW 03 Jembatan Besi, Kecamatan Tambora, Jakarta Barat, remains unresolved.
As of Monday, 2 March 2026, the mains water supply in the residential area has remained non-functional for over a month. Residents continue to depend on water tanker assistance and purchasing water from street vendors.
A resident named Eca reported that PAM Jaya (Jakarta’s water utility) officials had only visited to inspect conditions. “According to my mother, it was not field staff but officials directly from PAM’s office conducting an inspection. It appears they were assessing which sections might need updating or repairs,” Eca stated when contacted by Kompas.com on Monday, 2 March 2026.
However, residents have received no clear information regarding follow-up actions or what specifically requires repair. The inspection was also criticised for being incomplete, with formal inspection reports (BAP) prepared only for individual cases. “According to the officials, our report has been filed and an inspection report exists. But only for my house, because the report was submitted under my customer number. Other houses haven’t been included,” Eca explained.
On a positive note, Eca acknowledged that PAM Jaya had fulfilled its promise to provide regular water tanker assistance. “Over the past week, water tanks have arrived one to two times daily. As of today, water still isn’t flowing, so we rely on the water trucks, which we share with others,” she said.
Despite receiving water assistance, residents remain concerned about when repairs to the damaged pipe network will be completed. Residents reported having seen no excavation or repair work near their homes. “We haven’t seen any excavation or repair work near our house. Previously, there was some digging near RT 9 RW 3, with a cover marked ‘PAM Jaya’, but when we checked again, it turned out that work wasn’t for our area,” Eca clarified.
