GROBOGAN, KOMPAS.com - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has recorded a significant increase in mobility of people in Grobogan Regency, Central Java, using train services during the 2026 Ascension of Jesus Christ long holiday period from 14th to 17th May.

The Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, said that cumulatively, from Wednesday (13/5/2026) to Sunday (17/5/2026) at 07:00, Ngrombo Station, Grobogan had served 9,927 passengers, consisting of 5,021 boarding passengers and 4,906 disembarking passengers.

Luqman explained that this trend of increasing passenger volume shows KAI’s role as a reliable backbone of national public transportation in supporting community mobility, especially during long holiday periods.

According to Luqman, the highest passenger volume occurred on Thursday (14/5/2026) with a total of 2,310 passengers. In detail, this included 1,147 boarding passengers and 1,163 disembarking passengers at Ngrombo Station, Grobogan.

Luqman also expressed his appreciation to the public for continuing to trust trains as their preferred mode of transportation during long holidays.

“The high interest of people in using trains during the Ascension of Jesus Christ long holiday shows that trains remain the primary choice because they are safe, comfortable, punctual, and free from traffic congestion,” said Luqman.

Arif also mentioned several long-distance trains that were popular choices for passengers during this period, including: Ambarawa Express, Airlangga, Blora Jaya and Kedungsepur.

The favourite destinations for passengers from Ngrombo Station are: Pasar Senen (Jakarta), Pasar Turi (Surabaya), Poncol (Semarang) and Tawang (Semarang).

Luqman advised the public to plan their trips in advance and make ticket reservations through official channels such as the Access by KAI application, the kai.id website, and other official sales partners.

Passengers are also expected to arrive at the station earlier, pay attention to departure schedules, take care of their belongings, and follow the instructions of officers while in the station area or on board the train.

“KAI continues to be committed to placing safety as its top priority. With the full support of all operational staff on standby, we ensure that passenger journeys are safe, secure, comfortable and punctual,” Luqman concluded.
