Communication expert Noval Agung Warjito Ardoyo stated that the public feels satisfied with the 2026 Lebaran mudik and return safety programmes. This is based on observations and a survey of 1,200 respondents.

“The results of the observations and research indeed confirm that the mudik travellers feel satisfied with the safety messages in the 2026 mudik operation programmes,” Agung said, quoted on Thursday, 9 April 2026.

He explained that more than 80% of mudik travellers rated the programmes run by Korlantas Polri as better than the previous year. Additionally, more than 50% of respondents also stated that the number of accidents during the 2026 mudik period experienced a decline.

“The majority of mudik travellers feel that more than 80% of the public believes that the current programmes by Korlantas are far better than subsequent programmes. Respondents also said that more than 50% indicated that the accident rate during the 2026 mudik programme was much lower than the previous one,” he said.

This survey targeted mudik travellers journeying outside Java as well as those remaining in Java.

He assessed that this success needs to be continuously improved through cross-sector collaboration in delivering safety messages to the public.

According to him, communication strategies need to be maximised through digital platforms in addition to conventional media, and involving content creators to create more engaging messages through a storytelling approach.

“Mudik safety messages must target various generations. This can be done by inviting content creators and creating storytelling narratives to make them more appealing to the audience,” he explained.

Additionally, integration with digital applications like Google Maps is seen as able to help provide travel predictions and recommendations for mudik travellers.

“In the future, this mudik programme can be developed into an information platform containing travel predictions and recommendations for the public,” Agung said.
