Over 700 Troops from 22 Nations Join Peacekeeping Drill in Bogor
Jakarta (ANTARA) - More than 700 military personnel from 22 countries are taking part in the Multinational Peacekeeping Exercise 2026 (MPE26) Garuda Canti Dharma III, held at the Peacekeeping Mission Centre (PMPP) in Bogor, West Java.
The United States Embassy in Jakarta, in a statement confirmed on Tuesday, said that the exercise, which runs from 20 July to 2 August, involves the United States Pacific Command (USPACOM), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and military personnel from partner nations.
“This exercise affirms the strength of the US-Indonesia defence partnership and the shared commitment of participating nations to advancing global peace and security,” the statement read.
The US Embassy said the world’s largest annual international peacekeeping field exercise is designed to promote global peace and security.
Participating countries come from five continents, including Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand. Indonesia is hosting the exercise for the fourth time.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Adjutant General of the Hawaii National Guard, Brigadier General Phillip L. Mallory, expressed appreciation to the Indonesian Government, the TNI, and the PMPP for organising the exercise.
According to Mallory, Garuda Canti Dharma has grown into one of the world’s leading multinational peacekeeping exercises, reflecting a shared commitment to preparing forces ready to serve with professionalism, integrity, and respect for local communities.
“Today’s joint exercise will strengthen our ability to operate together in the future in support of international peace and security,” Brigadier General Mallory said in his opening remarks.
Through the exercise, TNI, United States, and partner nation personnel will align tactics, techniques, and operational procedures to enhance interoperability and the effectiveness of peacekeeping missions under United Nations mandates.
Garuda Canti Dharma III 2026 comprises UN peacekeeping operations staff training, field training, and capacity-building activities for essential support elements at the PMPP.
Through this exercise, Indonesian, US, and partner nation forces will mutually enhance interoperability and align their understanding of tactics, techniques, and procedures, in order to improve the readiness and effectiveness of global peacekeeping forces.
