Over 50,000 US students visit China for study programmes since 2023

China has received over 50,000 American youth for exchange and study programmes, successfully meeting its five-year target set in 2023, the Chinese Ministry of Education announced on Friday (29 May).

American visitors from 50 US states and Washington DC have visited 31 provincial-level regions in China, as well as the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.

They have participated in various activities, including language learning, summer and winter camps, sports competitions, and academic studies for credit or degrees.

The exchange programme has bridged information gaps, strengthened good relations, and contributed to stable, healthy, and sustainable bilateral ties, said an official from the ministry’s international cooperation department.

The ministry also encourages public and private sector efforts to scale up exchanges and transform short-term engagements into robust long-term partnerships.
