Over 3,000 jobs offered in fair

JAKARTA: More than 3,000 jobs will be up for grabs from the 42 companies participating in the 2004 National Job Fair to be held at the Jakarta Fair Ground on May 27 and May 28, a government official says.

The manpower ministry's Director-General for Domestic Labor Placement Kirnadi said on Tuesday that the fair should be a win- win situation.

"The job fair will help job-seekers find the jobs that suit their skills and interests best, and help (the participating) firms to recruit quality employees," he exclaimed.

Since the 1998 economic problems, unemployment has been on the rise, currently at nearly 45 million nationwide. --Antara
