Over 21,000 Return to Jakarta via Whoosh After Long Weekend

PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) predicts over 21,000 Whoosh passengers will return to Jakarta during the peak of the long weekend return rush. By 10:00 WIB, ticket sales for Monday’s (1 June 2026) departures had exceeded 12,000, with passenger numbers expected to surpass 21,000 by the end of operations. “Occupancy for Bandung-to-Jakarta journeys since 10:00 WIB until afternoon has exceeded 70 per cent. Passengers are urged to book Whoosh tickets promptly, particularly through online sales channels,” said KCIC’s General Manager for Corporate Communications, Eva Chairunisa, in a statement on Monday, 1 June 2026. Eva added that Bandung-to-Jakarta occupancy has continued to rise throughout the morning, especially for popular afternoon and evening schedules. To accommodate the surge in passenger volume during the return rush, KCIC has added six extra services, increasing daily Whoosh trips from 62 to 68. Eva stated the additional services provide around 3,600 extra seats daily, bringing total daily capacity to approximately 40,000 seats. “With the added schedules, operating hours for Bandung-bound services have been extended,” Eva said. Meanwhile, the last departure from Padalarang to Halim, previously available until 21:23 WIB, now extends to 21:38 WIB.
