Over 2,000 gambling machines destroyed

TANGERANG: In its war against gambling, the City Police have
steamrollered and burned 2,294 gambling machines ranging from
jackpot machines, roulette tables and even playing cards.

The devices were confiscated in police raids at several
gambling centers in Jakarta that began in July. Some of the
centers were Mangga Besar, Lokasari and Mandala Jaya complex in
Kota, West Jakarta, Bonagabe in East Jakarta, as well as
Bendungan Utara in North Jakarta.

Police public crime deputy director Adj. Sr. Comr. Sigit
Sudarmanto said that his office would be bringing around 800
gambling cases to court. -- JP
