More than two million train tickets for Eid holiday travel in 2026 remain available for purchase until Monday, 9 March 2026.

The Eid holiday travel period for 2026 runs from 11 March to 1 April 2026, with total train ticket capacity of 4.49 million seats.

“Ticket availability remains substantial across various routes. We urge the public to promptly plan their travel and take advantage of the various schedule options and promotions available to ensure their journey remains comfortable and smooth,” said Anne Purba, Vice President of Corporate Communication for KAI (Indonesian Railways), in an official statement on Monday, 9 March 2026.

Currently, train ticket occupancy for the 2026 Eid holiday travel stands at 53.3 per cent, leaving approximately 2.1 million tickets available for the public to use for Eid travel and return journeys by rail.

In detail, long-distance train sales have reached 2.3 million tickets out of a capacity of 3.5 million seats, representing an occupancy rate of 64.9 per cent.

Local trains have recorded sales of 80,391 tickets out of a capacity of 926,936 seats, or 8.7 per cent occupancy.

Local train occupancy is projected to continue increasing as local train bookings commence seven days before departure.

Purchases of Eid holiday 2026 train tickets can only be made through official KAI channels, including the official KAI website and the Access by KAI application.

Several train stations have been identified as favourite destinations for the public during the 2026 Eid holiday transport period, namely Yogyakarta Station, Surabaya Pasar Turi, Purwokerto, Semarang Tawang, Bandung, and Surabaya Gubeng.

KAI also reminded the public to take advantage of a 30 per cent fare discount programme available for numerous train journeys.

“This discount programme represents one of KAI’s efforts to provide convenience to the public in planning their Eid holiday travel using a transport mode that is safe, comfortable, and punctual,” said Anne.

Additionally, the Kereta Api Ekonomi Kerakyatan (People’s Economy Trains) is currently a top choice for the public with average occupancy reaching 75 per cent.

People’s Economy Train ticket sales to date have reached 20,444 tickets out of a capacity of 27,368 seats, and are expected to continue increasing as the peak Eid travel period approaches.

“KAI is committed to providing transport services that are safe, comfortable, and punctual during the Eid holiday travel period. We invite the public to promptly plan their travel and make use of the remaining available tickets,” concluded Anne.
