Over 1,000 reporters for MPR session

JAKARTA: At least 1,163 journalists from 195 domestic and foreign media have registered to cover the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) scheduled for August.

Eni, a staff member at the Assembly Secretariat, confirmed on Monday that the number could possibly rise due to the need for more reporters from television and radio stations.

Head of the MPR Protocol Unit Sadino said his staff was preparing to invite foreign diplomats to watch the Annual Session.

He said, however, that they had not decided on the number of invitation cards yet as they were waiting for information from the 90-strong working body of the MPR.

As was the case with Annual Sessions in the past, foreign diplomats will show up on the first day of the Annual Session, Sadino said. - JP
