Over 100 motorcycles seized in illegal parking crackdown at West Jakarta's City Park
A total of 111 motor vehicles were penalised by a joint task force during an operation targeting illegal parking and unlicensed parking attendants in the City Park Apartments area, East Cengkareng Village, Cengkareng District, West Jakarta, on Thursday. Agus Prasetyo, Head of the Operational Section for the West Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, explained that the enforcement operation was a follow-up to directives from the Governor of Jakarta and the Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency.
According to Agus, this firm action was taken to restore road function, ease congestion points, and eradicate unlicensed levies. The operation also served as a rapid response to resident complaints about numerous road accesses being converted into illegal parking lots. "We frequently receive public reports regarding roads around the apartment being used as illegal parking areas. We followed up by combing the location," Agus stated.
Agus continued that this illegal parking clean-up operation involved at least 30 joint personnel comprising elements from the Transportation Sub-agency, Social Sub-agency, West Jakarta Public Order Agency, as well as members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the National Police. From the total of 111 vehicles caught, officers secured 110 two-wheeled motor vehicles. As many as 102 motorbikes were immediately subjected to tyre deflation sanctions on the spot, while eight other motorbikes were transported to the West Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency office in Rawa Buaya.
In addition to two-wheeled vehicles, officers also found one four-wheeled vehicle parked haphazardly on the road shoulder. The car was immediately subjected to towing sanctions. Through this intensive enforcement, Agus hopes to create a deterrent effect against violators so that no more residents utilise road shoulders or pavements as personal parking spaces. "We hope this enforcement provides a deterrent effect so that no more residents park their vehicles haphazardly on road shoulders or pavements," he said.
