Over 1,000 Palestinians Killed Since Ceasefire Agreement
Gaza - A total of 1,005 Palestinians have been killed and 3,157 others wounded by Israeli military attacks in Gaza since a ceasefire was reached in October 2025, according to Gaza-based health authorities on Wednesday (17/6).
The cumulative death toll since 7 October 2023 has reached 73,016, with 173,265 others injured, the authority stated in its latest daily report.
Separately, the health authority said in a statement that it may be forced to suspend the medical referral process for patients in Gaza seeking treatment abroad, citing ongoing restrictions and obstacles affecting their travel. They noted that 36 lists covering approximately 3,000 patients have been submitted since February and are still awaiting approval for travel and care.
On the same Wednesday, Hamas expressed hope that its flexibility in ongoing negotiations in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, would pave the way for an agreement to implement the Gaza ceasefire deal. Hazem Qassem, a Hamas spokesman, said in a press statement that the movement’s primary goal in the ongoing talks is to end the war in Gaza, accelerate aid delivery, and begin the reconstruction process.
On Monday (15/6), Palestinian factions stated they had submitted a formal response to mediators regarding the Gaza peace roadmap plan proposed by Nickolay Mladenov, the ‘high representative for Gaza’ from the US-led ‘Board of Peace’. The 15-point plan announced in May covers various issues, including security, an international stabilisation force, the withdrawal of Israeli military forces, and reconstruction.
Palestinian factions and mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye are holding meetings in Cairo to discuss the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire. The fragile truce between Hamas and Israel has begun to waver, with several key provisions, including disarmament and reconstruction, yet to be implemented.
