PT Pertamina (Persero) has recorded a decarbonisation programme realisation of up to 118% in the first semester of 2026, exceeding the targets set in the 2026 Corporate Budget and Work Plan (RKAP). This result proves that the efforts implemented by the company to date are proceeding as expected.

Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, stated that the decarbonisation programme is part of the implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles across all business lines.

“As a world-class energy company, Pertamina is committed to implementing ESG in accordance with international standards. Pertamina’s decarbonisation is also a corporate commitment to supporting the Government’s target of achieving Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060,” said Muhammad Baron on Tuesday (22/9/2026).

In addition to decarbonisation, Pertamina continues to develop its low-carbon business. From January to June 2026, Pertamina’s low-carbon business performance reached 101% of the 2026 RKAP target.

This achievement was supported by several programmes, ranging from the development of bioethanol and biofuel to energy efficiency efforts. “This achievement is supported by several key programmes such as bioethanol, biofuel, and energy efficiency, which were able to exceed the established targets,” said Baron.

Other ESG programmes, such as sustainable procurement, sustainability budget tagging, and community empowerment, also recorded positive performance. Overall, achievements in the governance aspect exceeded the target, reaching 102%.

“This success reflects the implementation of effective programmes, particularly in the aspects of governance, social responsibility, and sustainability support systems,” said Baron.

According to Baron, the integrated implementation of ESG has strengthened Pertamina’s position as the number one company globally for the Integrated Oil and Gas sub-industry in terms of ESG levels.

In the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) assessment, Pertamina obtained a ‘B’ score for the climate change category and an ‘A-’ for the water security category. Meanwhile, the Good Corporate Governance (GCG) score for 2025 reached 97.14%, falling into the “Very Good” category.

“These various achievements serve as a driver for Pertamina to continue improving the quality of environmental management, social responsibility, and corporate governance. For Pertamina, sustainability and ESG principles produce a real impact on the environment, society, and business continuity,” said Baron.

In developing its low-carbon business, Pertamina is developing several energy products, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), biogasoline, biodiesel, and low-carbon power plants.

For SAF, Pertamina targets an uplift volume of 27,000 kilolitres (KL) and sales of 6,000 KL in 2026. Pertamina is also developing biogasoline through a 5% bioethanol blend in RON 95 petrol. For the period of January to June 2026, biogasoline sales realisation was recorded at 23,280 KL.

This low-carbon business development is being carried out alongside regulatory changes, energy portfolio transformations, and Pertamina’s corporate actions.

These achievements have established Pertamina as a pioneer in the green energy transition in Indonesia. At the 2026 KESGI Awards, Pertamina also received four major awards in the Oil and Gas sector. These four awards covered categories related to environmental, social, and governance pillars. Pertamina was recognised for successfully conducting energy business with a balance between profitability, environmental sustainability, and accountable governance.
