The government's commitment to simplifying processes and protecting micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) operators continues to yield results. Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman reported a series of significant achievements during the first quarter of 2025, reflecting notable progress in the legalisation and financing of MSMEs in Indonesia.

At a press conference following a post-Eid gathering in Jakarta on Tuesday, 15 April 2025, Minister Maman stressed the importance of transparency. "We want to ensure the public can directly monitor the ministry's progress in responding to the President's directives on ease of doing business for MSMEs," he said.

Throughout January to March 2025, a total of 739,843 Business Identification Numbers (NIB) were issued through collaboration between the MSME Ministry, the Investment Ministry/BKPM, BPJPH and BSN. This figure brings the cumulative national NIB total to 12.27 million, or approximately 80.2 per cent of the national target of 15.3 million NIBs by 2029.

Additionally, 25,509 halal certificates were granted covering approximately 162,754 products, addressing business operators' needs to meet halal product standards amid growing consumer awareness.

**MSME Festivals Across 18 Provinces**

To accelerate the legalisation process and legal protection for MSMEs, the ministry will organise the Micro Business Facilitation and Protection Festival across 18 provinces. The programme will serve as a direct platform for expediting services such as NIB issuance, halal certification and other business legality processes.

Minister Maman also emphasised support for a halal self-declaration policy for micro and small business operators, allowing them to declare their products halal with assistance from halal support officers. This approach is considered more efficient and inclusive for MSMEs.

**SNI Certification and People's Business Credit Flowing**

In the area of standardisation, 94,530 MSME operators obtained SNI Bina UMKM Certification during the first quarter. Since 2022 through to March 2025, a total of 1,084,123 products belonging to 926,696 MSME operators have been certified.

Meanwhile, People's Business Credit (KUR) disbursement reached Rp57.51 trillion, distributed to more than one million borrowers. Notably, the production sector dominated disbursement, absorbing Rp33.86 trillion or approximately 58.9 per cent of total KUR.

**Transparency and Ongoing Targets**

Minister Maman expressed optimism that this year's national targets could be met or even exceeded. He also affirmed that periodic reporting of this nature would continue.

"We will continue to promote this spirit of transparency. We plan to deliver the second quarterly report so that the public can directly monitor the ministry's performance in supporting MSME operators across Indonesia," he said.

This move reinforces the MSME Ministry's commitment to serving not merely as a regulator but also as a strategic partner actively driving MSME advancement across various sectors.
