Banda Aceh, VIVA – The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and Wilayatul Hisbah (WH), or the Islamic Sharia Police of Banda Aceh, are investigating allegations of prostitution activities disguised as a restaurant following the securing of a suspected pair of sharia violators at a fried chicken eatery in Lueng Bata sub-district.

“Indeed, officers have secured one woman and one man who are not mahram on the second floor of the fried chicken sales location,” said the Head of Satpol PP/WH Banda Aceh, Muhammad Rizal, when contacted in Banda Aceh.

The suspected sharia violators, a man with initials Az and a woman AS, both residing in Banda Aceh, were apprehended on Monday afternoon, 27 April, while they were on the second floor of the fried chicken outlet.

M Rizal explained that the arrest stemmed from information regarding suspicions of sharia violation activities at the location, prompting Satpol PP/WH to conduct surveillance.

After confirming the presence of suspicious individuals committing sharia violations, the surveillance team contacted on standby officers, leading to a raid.

“Officers were initially obstructed by the owner, who tried to prevent them from going up to the second floor, but the couple was eventually secured and brought to the office,” he said.

En route to the office, the male suspect attempted to flee but was pursued and recaptured by officers.

“Both are now at the office for further examination in accordance with applicable regulations,” he stated.

He added that the examination of the two suspects is being conducted in line with Aceh Qanun Number 11 of 2002 on the implementation of Islamic sharia and Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 on Jinayat Law.

“As for the location owner, further developments will be pursued during the examination. If there are indications of intentional facilitation and if the owner received money, they will certainly face sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations,” said M Rizal.
