Outrage as Group Allegedly Holds Grilled Dog Meat Feast in Nusa Penida
A group of people allegedly held a feast of grilled dog meat in Nusa Penida, Klungkung. A video recording of them preparing the dog meat has gone viral on social media. In a post from the Instagram account @adenesta_, viewed by detikBali on Wednesday (1/4/2026), the account owner expressed their anger over the alleged burning of the dog. In the video, they called on the relevant authorities to take action against the perpetrators. They also reposted the video of the dog meat feast activity. “Where are the dog lovers in the Bali area? We have received a report of a case where some individuals burned a dog in the Nusa Penida area. Please tag this video to mbak Niluh so she can intervene. So she can step in and thoroughly investigate this case. The perpetrators can be arrested,” said @adenesta_. Meanwhile, Bali DPD RI member Niluh Djelantik responded to the video post via her Instagram. She stated that she had received the complaint video regarding the alleged dog burning in the Nusa Penida area. “We request that Polda Bali, Klungkung Police Resort, and Nusa Penida Police Sector conduct an investigation, security, and arrest of the alleged perpetrators,” said Niluh. In addition, Niluh also asked all village heads and sub-district heads throughout Bali Province to tighten supervision of foreigners in the Bali region. “We await the press release once the perpetrators have been arrested,” she concluded. When contacted separately, Nusa Penida Police Sector Chief Kompol I Ketut Kesuma Jaya stated that his side is already handling the alleged dog burning case. The handling was carried out quickly after receiving information from social media. “Based on the video on social media, we immediately conducted an investigation into the individuals suspected to be in the video. We will soon provide an official statement on the results of the investigation we are conducting,” he explained.
