An uproar has erupted over the menu of the free nutritious meal programme (MBG) for students at a primary school (SD) in Tulungagung, East Java. It has been discovered that the eggs served contained chicken droppings. The head of the MBG task force in Tulungagung, Bagus Kuncoro, stated that he would report the complaint to the Coordinator of the Badan Gizi Nasional (BGN) in Tulungagung.

“We will report it to the BGN coordinator in Tulungagung,” said Bagus, as reported by detikjatim on Thursday (26/2/2026).

One resident, Herlambang, said that his nephew had received the MBG menu consisting of eggs, bread, milk, and fruit salad. However, the eggs still had chicken droppings on them.

“But the eggs that were given still had chicken droppings on them. How is this? How can eggs like this be given to children without being washed?” said Herlambang.

He is concerned that if the eggs are still consumed, it could have a negative impact on the children’s health, especially since the eggs were already cracked.

“We ask that the SPPG (School Food Provisioning Unit) pay more attention to the menu that is served. If this is allowed to continue, the central government’s programme will seem like a failure. The intention is good, but the implementation is like this,” he said.
