Jakarta — The Outer Ring Road at Duri Kosambi, Cengkareng, West Jakarta remained submerged under 30 centimetres of floodwater on Monday afternoon (9 March 2026).

Observations at the scene showed flooding extending from the Duri Kosambi intersection to the turnaround beneath the Taman Semanan Indah flyover. Motorists could only pass through the two rightmost lanes, resulting in severe traffic congestion along the outer ring road.

At the water’s edge, several motorcyclists stopped to monitor the flood level, apparently considering whether to proceed or turn back. A Pertamina fuel station alongside the road remained closed due to being affected by the flooding, with its black gates firmly shut and secured with chains.

A local trader, Rizal, reported that flooding began in the area on Sunday (8 March 2026). He noted that conditions had improved compared to the previous day. “Yesterday the water reached half a metre, and all motorcycles stalled passing through here. Now, thank God, it’s receding and can be crossed,” Rizal told Kompas.com at the location on Monday.

Rizal attributed the flooding to overflow from the river and water retention facilities located beneath the toll road. He explained that heavy rainfall caused water discharge in the retention area to exceed capacity, causing it to overflow onto the road.

The flooding has resulted in sparse business activity for local traders in the area, including Rizal’s food stall. “It’s been quiet since yesterday because people find it difficult to shop due to the flooding,” Rizal said.

He appealed to the government to promptly improve the drainage system in the area to prevent recurrent flooding.
