Outbound Traffic via MBZ Toll Road Increases by 101 Per Cent
Vehicle volume departing Jakarta through the Mohammed Bin Zayed (MBZ) elevated toll road surged significantly ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek (JJC) recorded a traffic flow increase of up to 101 per cent on the fifth day before Eid. Desti Anggraeni, General Manager of Operations and Maintenance at PT JJC, stated that the increase reflected heightened public mobility during the second wave of the peak Mudik exodus period.
“The significant surge in vehicle volume departing Jakarta via the MBZ section demonstrates that traveller mobility remained elevated during the second week of the peak Mudik exodus period,” said Desti in a statement in Bekasi.
Based on traffic data, the number of vehicles transiting from Jakarta to Cikampek via the MBZ section reached 44,075 units, an increase of 101.33 per cent compared to normal conditions recorded at 21,892 vehicles.
Not only outbound traffic, but vehicle volume heading towards Jakarta also experienced an increase. A total of 29,796 vehicles were recorded heading to the capital, up 26.01 per cent from normal traffic of 23,646 vehicles.
Overall, total vehicle traffic across both directions on the MBZ section reached 73,871 units. This increase confirms the high level of public movement ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
JJC urged all road users to prioritise safety during their journeys. Drivers were advised to ensure their physical condition remained optimal and their vehicles were roadworthy.
Additionally, road users were reminded to maintain adequate fuel reserves and battery charge for electric vehicles, and to anticipate weather changes such as rain that could affect visibility and road conditions.
“Prioritise driving safety so that the journey proceeds safely and comfortably until you reach your destination,” said Desti.
